Winter has been slow in coming this year. We finally got a little snow this weekend so I decided to have a little fun with the ice. I’m not a big fan of the short days and long nights of Winter, but a frozen landscape offers many treasures.

I’m looking forward to heading out to Farmington Bay soon with a neighbor friend, Nathan Sperry, to see if we can find eagles and other wildlife to photograph. I’ve been there once a few years ago, but Nathan knows the area well so it should be a lot of fun.

As you can see here, we woke up this morning to a late spring snow storm.  We had about an inch of snow on our deck by the time I left for work. The trees and shrubs were perhaps the most surprised.  With all their nice big blossoms and new leaves, the snow collected [...]]]>

As you can see here, we woke up this morning to a late spring snow storm.  We had about an inch of snow on our deck by the time I left for work. The trees and shrubs were perhaps the most surprised.  With all their nice big blossoms and new leaves, the snow collected easily on them.  I ran out to try to shake some of the snow off our largest tree before I left, fearing the weight may break some branches.  Of course the snow is all melted now, and it looks nothing broke.  Cross our fingers…

Kellie went out and tried to cover the tomatoes to keep them from freezing.  It was a sloppy mess, and our neighbors got a good laugh watching her.  They were hoping I caught her in a photo…

Once again we awake from cold winter’s pale dream

I don’t know if anyone else will enjoy this photo, but I thought it was kind of cool (no pun intended.)  I enjoy little surprises like this.  Something I haven’t seen before.
