Here are a few more photos from Mauthausen concentration camp. My visit here with the EMBA crew during our trip to Europe was almost two years ago, but it is still hard to imagine what happened in this place. Of course this was one of many concentration camps, and of course there are still many atrocities carrying on in the world, but we should not forget what went on here.
These photos are nothing spectacular, but they tell a story. The first photo shows the outer wall surrounding the camp, topped by barbed wire. The second photo is a gas chamber where prisoners were executed. The last photo is the smoke stack above the ovens where bodies were cremated. There was no easy way out.
