Our family spent August 1st in Idaho enjoying the festivities surrounding this year’s rendition of That Famous Preston Night Rodeo. The Rodeo runs three nights, and each evening before the rodeo the city sponsors a parade. Its the only parade I’ve ever been to where not only do most of the floats throw out candy for the kids, but all sorts of other items are given away by parade “floats” to the watching crowd:
- Cartons of milk (regular, chocolate, strawberry)
- Frisbees
- Water jugs
- Sports drinks
- Pepsi products
- Popsicles
The kids generally go home with sacks full of goodies. They’ve learned to take plastic grocery bags with them to the parade – a trick-or-treat approach for hauling out all the sweets.
We attended finals night at the rodeo on Saturday evening. Taking photos was a challenge. Between poor lighting conditions, loads of dust in the air, and horrible hay fever (including a major asthma attack) I’m surprised I was able to get any photos. But I’ve included a few of my favorites in today’s posting.
